Absolutely beautiful. I'm still amazed by your talent with space art. ^_^

To be blatantly honest, the planets are one hell of a letdown on this piece. They are badly positioned, badly proportioned, badly placed (if you don't know about it yet, research the compositional 'rule of thirds' - any good art site will tell you about it), overpopulated, really washed out (too much white; it's a detail-and-lighting-killer; this is perhaps their biggest failing) and the texture on the right planet is terrible.

- HAVING SAID THAT -

I'm absolutely stunned by the rest of the piece. The bottom, especially, is fascinating. I'm dying to find out whether or not it's entirely painted, because if so, your skills have improved massively since the last time I viewed your art.

(By the way, the fact that I'm being harsh only implies that I believe you have tons of potential, and could easily improve - if I believed otherwise I really wouldn't bother.)

A couple tips:

:bulletblue: The birds make an excellent addition to the piece. However, when This type of detail comes into play, less is more - unless the idea is to create a vastly overpopulated scene of birds. There should be only one group, two small ones at a stretch. The same applies to the planets.

:bulletblue: If you're aiming for realism, the planets wouldn't show through the atmosphere, at least not the lower, more misty atmosphere. If you're not, ignore this comment.

:bulletblue: The stars only occupy a certain portion of the sky... why? The large, strong flare is also a little distracting.

:bulletblue: The nebula is fantastic, though you may want to make is meld just a little more with the rest of the piece... it sticks out a bit.

:bulletblue: Planets! In order to assess what is really wrong with them, I'd have to look at the .psd, but at a glance, I'd say either the textures are overcontrasted or the lighting on them is set to color dodge at a slightly reduced opacity. Either way, they are simply too much! I'd suggest averaging your white and black points on the textures using Curves (Ctrl + M, and drag the points at the top and bottom horizontally inwards) and reducing the lighting. Screen works fine for the lighting mode, and if you want more saturation, use Color Balance on a flattened planet layer. Also, try to be more selective with your planet textures; the one on the left has more potential, whereas the right looks generic and over-patterned.

Right! I hope this helped, I think it's a great image overall, and remember, critique is an artist's most valuable income. Keep improving!

I wish people would give it to me more often...

The bottom is a terregan but the terregan was very flat, so the majority of it is, yes, painted. The entire land mass to the right was painted in, it was originally water, the refelctions on the water was painted in, and of course, so were the trees, birds, and the clouds were textures I added blah blah.

Sides that, I don't really have alot of time to leave much of a reply atm but I'll look into the links you left and go over their stuff kk? Thanks hehe!!
